Be part of the big adventure

17th & 18th Sept 2022

17th & 18th Sept

Following another successful year in 2021 we are pleased to announce that The Purbeck Running Festival will return in 2022 with the opportunity to race the Marathon & 16 Mile races on both days. We will also be continuing the Purbeck Ultra, 6 and 3 mile races again in 2022. The Purbeck Ultra will cover 45 miles and take in both the 16 and Marathon routes.

All routes will be fully marked and marshalled with plenty of water and food stations! The courses take in Durlston, the Southwest Coast path, Worth Matravers, Kingston, Heavens Gate, Tyneham, the Purbeck hills, Corfe Castle, the Swanage Steam Railway and of course Swanage itself. Did we mention the hills? Though large and hard they also provide you with astounding views.

Nordic Walking UK
16-18th Sept

Added to The Purbeck Outdoor Weekend in 2016 the Purbeck Nordic Walking Festival UK is the creation of The Purbeck Outdoor Weekend and Nordic Walking UK. The 2019 festival was a huge success and this year aims to be even bigger with 60+ walks planned and of course the Nordic Walking challenge events specifically for Nordic Walkers which will grow into legendary routes for enthusiasts from around the world

Come and enjoy spectacular scenery and camaraderie as you challenge YOURSELF to tackle these iconic routes along the Coastal paths and wild terrain of the Isle of Purbeck. Whilst there are medals and T shirts for all finishers, these events are not all about speed or racing so feel free to take part as a group or to go it alone.

You will walk along cliff tops, through country parks, past stunning coves and through lost villages. Views of Castles, steam railways, lighthouses and breath taking scenery will make up for the tough parts where you will be climbing or descending the chalk ridges to define the area which is a World heritage site.

Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival
16-18th Sept

Joining The Purbeck Outdoor Weekend for 2021 the Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival is a great opportunity to take part in guided walks throughout Purbeck. Learn about Purbeck, it’s stunning scenery and history as well as enjoying some of the best walking the UK has to offer.

The beautiful Isle of Purbeck is a walker’s paradise. From coast to country, the variety is unsurpassed. Why not consider a walking in Dorset holiday this year? The Dorset coastal walking is spectacular. From a stroll along the beach in beautiful Victorian Swanage to a serious hike along the South West Coast Path and the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival is truly special too. But walking in Dorset hinterland is extraordinary too – wonderful heathland, walking through designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Sites of Special Scientific Interest, with the added attraction of sea glimpses wherever you turn. This tranquil area of Dorset is home to many rare species of birds, wildflowers, butterflies and reptiles. Walks take in the wildlife paradise of Durlston Country Park, heathland at Studland, limestone cliffs along the coast and the RSPB reserve at Arne.
